DAY OF THE TORAH–DAY OF TRUTH

Shavuot is the ultimate Yom Tov, for it commemorates the giving of the Torah to the Jewish people. On the first day of the holiday, it is incumbent on all Jews to hear the Ten Commandments (as it is read in synagogue). On the second day, the celebration continues, and we also take a moment to pause and reflect, as we say Yiskor (prayer for the departed). It’s also customary to eat dairy foods on Shavuot because the Torah is likened to milk and honey. Please join us for Shavuot services and festive lunches and dinners–all free of charge (though donations are extremely appreciated, and can be sent via zelle to synagoguecruger1@gmail.com).
