THE LITTLE SYNAGOGUE THAT COULD

Congregation Khal Adath Yeshurun (the Cruger Avenue Synagogue) is the Bronx’s oldest contiguous Orthodox Synagogue. Founded in 1913 as The Bryant Avenue Synagogue in the South Bronx, the shul moved to the Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx in the mid-1960s. Under the direction of Rabbi Jacob Bulka, one on the most respected members of the American Rabbinate, the synagogue thrived for several decades. Over the last few years, in spite of the gentrification of the neighborhood, the shul has continued to serve the needs of the Bronx Jewish community. And with the help of its congregants and members, this little synagogue will continue to accomplish big things!
